Liebe Leser*innen, bald startet die dritte Staffel unserer erfolgreichen und beliebten Vortragsreihe "Meet the Experts". Ab 10. März wird in regelmäßigen Online-Vorträgen das GESIS-Datenangebot, insbesondere die Angebotspalette der Abteilung "Data and Research on Society" und deren Anwendungsmöglichkeiten für die sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung vorgestellt. Die Vortragsreihe umfasst Präsentationen zu zahlreichen Umfrageprogrammen wie ALLBUS, CSES, ESS, FReDA oder ISSP. Auch das CEWS-Hochschulranking sowie der Mikrozensus werden Teil der Vortragsreihe sein. Die Vorträge (siehe unten) finden entweder in deutscher oder in englischer Sprache statt. Starting on March 10, regular online lectures will present the GESIS data offering, in particular the data offering of the department "Data and Research on Society" and its possible applications for social science research. The lecture series will include presentations on numerous survey programs such as ALLBUS, CSES, ESS, FReDA, and ISSP. The CEWS University Ranking and the Microcensus will also be part of the lecture series. The lectures (see below) will be held either in German or in English.  | Wir gratulieren Abdallah Abdeen zur Verleihung des Leibniz-Auszubildenden-PreisesAbdallah Abdeen, Mitarbeiter in der IT am Standort Mannheim, wurde für seine besonderen Leistungen während der Ausbildung und in den Abschlussprüfungen geehrt. Er erhält den Leibniz-Auszubildenden-Preis 2021 und gehört damit zu den besten drei von rund 350 Auszubildenden in der gesamten Leibniz-Gemeinschaft. Wir gratulieren! Congratulations to Abdallah Abdeen on receiving the Leibniz Award for Trainees (Leibniz-Auszubildenden-Preis 2021)Abdallah Abdeen, employee in IT at the GESIS-location in Mannheim, was honored for his special achievements during his training and in his final exams. He receives the Leibniz-Auszubildenden-Preis 2021 and is thus among the best three of around 350 trainees in the entire Leibniz Association. Congratulations! |
 | Neuer Blog-Beitrag von Emma Link und Dr. Lydia Repke: International Day of Women and Girls in ScienceAm 11. Februar feiern die Vereinten Nationen den Internationalen Tag der Frauen und Mädchen in der Wissenschaft. Im letzten Jahr war er allen Wissenschaftlerinnen gewidmet, die an vorderster Front gegen das Coronavirus gekämpft haben. Dieses Thema ist noch immer äußerst relevant, denn Wissenschaftlerinnen aller Fachrichtungen sind von der neuartigen Situation betroffen, was sich zum Beispiel in geringeren Publikationszahlen aufgrund von vermehrter Betreuungsarbeit zeigt. Dies vergrößert den Gender Publication Gap und kann dazu führen, dass Mädchen wichtige Vorbilder verloren gehen. Last year, it was dedicated to all the female scientists who have been fighting at the frontline against the coronavirus. This topic is still highly relevant, as female scientists in all fields are affected by the new situation, as is shown, for example, in lower publication numbers due to increased care work. This widens the gender publication gap and may deprive girls of important role models. |
 | EuroWARCHILD Project – Untersuchung der Situation von Kindern, die im Krieg geboren wurdenGESIS - Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften freut sich, bekannt zu geben, dass das EuroWARCHILD-Projekt am 20. Januar 2022 mit Professor Ingvill Constanze Mochmann aus der GESIS-Abteilung Knowledge Exchange and Outreach (KEO) gestartet ist. Das Projekt wird durch einen Consolidator Grant des Europäischen Forschungsrates (ERC) von 2021-2026 finanziert. EuroWARCHILD wird die Situation von drei Generationen von Kriegskindern (CBOW) in Europa untersuchen: Kinder, die von feindlichen Soldaten während des Zweiten Weltkriegs gezeugt wurden, Kinder, die durch konfliktbezogene sexuelle Gewalt während des Bosnienkriegs gezeugt wurden, und Kinder, die von europäischen ausländischen Kämpfern für ISIS/Daesh geboren wurden. EuroWARCHILD Project – exploring the situation of children born of warGESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is pleased to announce that the EuroWARCHILD Project was kicked-off January 20th2022, with Professor Ingvill Constanze Mochmann from the GESIS Department Knowledge Exchange and Outreach (KEO) on the team. The project is funded through a Consolidator Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) from 2021-2026. EuroWARCHILD will explore the situation of three generations of children born of war (CBOW) in Europe: children fathered by enemy soldiers during World War II, children conceived through conflict-related sexual violence during the Bosnian war, and children born of European foreign fighters to ISIS/Daesh. |
