Little is known about what determines who is selected by political parties as a candidate for elections. To enable research on this question, the Nomination Study of the German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) was conducted for the first time for the 2021 German federal election. As this article shows, this dataset can be used to analyze how the chances of being nominated as a constituency candidate are related to demographic characteristics.
