Vita

Tianying Chen received his M.S. in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. He was advised by Professor Laura Dabbish. His research probes the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), social computing and mental health. He conduct user studies to identify how digital experiences and online interactions affect users’ mental well-being, and design interactive tools as well as novel models to create positive interpersonal interactions and support well-being. Tianying also received a M.S. in Information from University of Michigan, working with Professor Sarita Schoenebeck, and a B.S. in Psychology from University of Washington, where he worked with Professor Marsha Linehan. Tianying also has experience working in the industry. Between 2021 and 2023, he worked at Snap Research for Snap Inc., and in 2016 for TP-Link Research America. He started working for GESIS in 2023.
